Have you ever heard of gingivitis and are you aware of what it is? Gingivitis is an early stage of periodontal disease, also known as gum disease. Typically, gingivitis arises due to poor oral health care. However, if gingivitis goes untreated, it can advance into deeper stages of gum disease, which will eventually cause severe infections and potential tooth loss to occur. To determine if you are suffering from gingivitis, always look for common signs and symptoms.

Typically, visual abnormalities with your gums will arise if you are suffering from gingivitis. If your gums are frequently bleeding while eating or while brushing and flossing your teeth, it could be linked to a gum tissue infection. Furthermore, anytime that you see extreme wetness or swelling with your gums or they are tender to the touch, you’ll need to visit our dentist to determine if gum disease is present. Gingivitis also typically show signs of bad breath that continues to occur, along with problems associated with teeth beginning to move out of position.
